Loikaw City, Kayah State
Loikaw is the capital of Kayah State, and home to the Padaung tribe locate on the Bilu River, dominated by the hilltop pagoda of Taung Kwe Zayde. It’s inhabitants are mostly Kayah. Loikaw’s busy and dusty streets are a pleasant enough to explore in a small town life in Kayah State. But Loikaw is the best place for venturing out into the surrounding countryside and villages and one of the less tourist area. Myanmar’s largest hydropower plant is located about 20 km east of Loikaw at Lawpita Falls.
